Samsung FINALLY lets you natively remap the Bixby button on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S9
Its taken two years, but its now happening. Samsung has finally caved!
When my fellow tech YouTuber Travis told me that Bixby is getting an overhaul, I was skeptical but can confirm that this is real: Samsung will finally allow us to remap the Bixby button on the Galaxy S10 so we can launch any application and not just Bixby – watch this:
Love Bixby or hate it, the one thing that we have in common is that we don’t like being forced to do something on our phones. If we wanted to be forced we would have bought an Apple product! ouch….
When I shared my How to use Bixby on the Note 9 video, I was told to download an app that allows you to remap the Bixby button. I know I can do that, but why? Surely this is a setting Samsung can fix or make available to us?
Turns out that yes it can.
It took Samsung two years but after a bit of research on Samsung’s Press site, I am happy to announce that on the Galaxy s10 range, you will be able to re-map the Bixby button.
Samsung allows remapping on the Galaxy S9 and S8 too
Reading further down the same press release there is a little number 5 which says: Bixby Key Customization is compatible with the Galaxy S10, and will be available via a software update on previously released Bixby-enabled flagship smartphones running Android Pie OS.
Glad this is finally happening and not sure why it took this long. Perhaps Samsung has realized that trying to force us to use our phones in a specific way is counterproductive and instead of Bixby getting love, it is getting hate with all the accidental launching of the assistant?
Speaking of the Samsung Galaxy S10, I have some questions about the Galaxy Fold that Samsung needs to answer.
