Troubleshoot your WiFi and fix your slow internet
“My internet speed is slow” “my ISP is crap” “Why is my Zoom video conferencing buffering?” these have to be one of the most frequently written comment on my How To Get Faster Internet and WiFi series on my YouTube channel. It’s time to learn how to troubleshoot your WiFi; especially now that we are all working from home and our kids are learning from home.
While it easy to blame your ISP, you must realize that in more cases than not, it’s your home network that is actually at fault; not your ISP.
So before blasting the poor customer support agent for terrible speed, let me show you how easy it is to troubleshoot your network with these simple steps anyone can do.
Whenever I hear “I have slow internet”, I go through these steps and it’s amazing how simple it is and how often these make the world of a difference. If, after going through these steps your internet is still slow, then, by all means, call your ISP.
How to check and troubleshoot your WiFi:
Before we begin, I want to be clear. You are not going to get more speed than you pay for. However, you should get as close to what you are paying for. In other words, if you pay for 100 Mbps you should get as close to 100Mpbs as possible. Not 10, not 5.
