What happens when you give kids tech such as WiFi, Tablets and phones and its time to eat dinner ? The same fight breaks out as parents get frustrated whilst kids just want to “quickly” watch the end of their show or finish a level on their games.

This is where the Dolmio pepper hacker comes to the rescue.

This is a pepper grinder with a difference. Not only will it season the food, but with a simple twist of the head, the Dolmio Pepper Hacker shuts down televisions, Wi-Fi and mobile devices for 30 minutes.

“We believe that meals shared with family and friends are often distracted by the very technology that is supposed to bring us closer together, so we’ve created the Dolmio pepper hacker to help connect us with the people in front of us.” says Richard Stear, marketing director at Mars Food Australia

In collaboration with creative agencies Clemenger BBDO Sydney, Pollen, Starcom and Ogilvy PR, a campaign was launched in Australia to show what happens to families where the pepper hacker was used.

Here is the secret footage:

Note: This is not a product that is available to be purchased. It is a prototype to explain the concept of families and friends being able to connect again when tech is not a distraction.
