Why ‘K’ Is Literally The Worst Text Ever To Receive
Do people still make phone calls ?
We seem to live on Instant Messaging systems such as WhatsApp, BBM, WeChat, Telegram to name but a few. This is how we communicate in todays hyper connected world. We create chat-groups to include everything from neighbourhood security alerts, to lift schemes to book clubs and we instantly jump as soon as a message hits out phone. We are wired that way.
When we had only SMS with a limit of 160 characters, then we had to invent ways to shorten words so they fit into the limited space and SMS TXT speak was born. LOL, CU, BRB are some of the typical examples that were acceptable way back then in SMS days. However, we have evolved. We have moved from 160 characters to unlimited characters – we can even include emoji icons, voice notes and pics. And yet, some people still believe they have to save on letters.

You can get away with a lot on Instant Messaging, but the one thing that seems to be universally accepted as a sure fire way to upset your messaging buddies is replying with “k” instead of the full word of OK.
