WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10 is here ! The app that has the power to pull

WhatsApp for BlackBerry 10

When anyone is looking at BlackBerry 10 they often ask questions around the available apps.  WhatsApp has been cited many times as the “must have app” and the lack thereof has been an inhabiting factor for many people.

WhatsApp is a communication app that is seen placed firmly in the  critical category compared to other cool-camera-lens-effects added to pics.

There are over 10 billion messages being sent using WhatsApp app on a daily basis around the world – reaching over 18 billion on the 31st December 2012. This is clearly the messaging platform of choice for non-BlackBerry users and Blackberry users.

Not forgetting of course that BlackBerry 7 users are currently using WhatsApp to bridge their chatting gap to chat to their non-BlackBerry contacts.

The lack of this comms tool, seems to be “a deal-breaker” and is keeping people away.

Not Anymore !

Finally it has arrived – WhatsApp is available for download for BlackBerry 10 users and is available in the South African BlackBerry World.

It amazing how an app has such pulling power that can literally change people’s purchasing decision.

Very powerful stuff.

“BlackBerry has been a great platform for WhatsApp for many years,” said Brian Acton, co-founder of WhatsApp. “Delivering WhatsApp on BlackBerry 10 devices is in line with our goals of ensuring that our customers around the world can continue to communicate with the most important people in their lives.”

In building a native application for the BlackBerry 10 platform, WhatsApp has been able to provide a fantastic user experience that leverages the true multi-tasking capabilities of BlackBerry 10. WhatsApp Messenger for BlackBerry 10 provides a high quality messaging experience that utilizes real-time push notifications to alert you when you receive messages- even when the screen is locked.

Fully integrated into BlackBerry Contacts, when the customer launches the app for the first time, WhatsApp can automatically scan existing phone numbers in the contact directory and extract the ones using WhatsApp, to help customers build out their contacts list and get started right away.
