Power solutions to counter load shedding
South Africa’s power utility Eskom can not supply enough electricity to South Africa. Therefore, in order to avoid a complete meltdown of the power grid, the utility introduced “Load Shedding”. This is a term used to describe a systematic shutdown of various areas for hours on end so that the power can be conserved to help build resources.
Essentially, this means that according to a schedule, each area can expect to be without power. This is the new reality in South Africa.
So what can individuals do about this ? What solutions can we put in place to make sure that when the power grid is out, we can still work, have lights on and keep our electric fences and alarms on ?
On this week’s Talking Tech with TheTechieGuy on CliffCentral, we got to speak to Ilan Miller about various solutions including Generators, Inverters, Solar Power so we are not left powerless (pun totally intended):
We also spoke about:
- The new products that Samsung is bringing to South Africa
- The new Lenovo Yoga Tablet with a built-in projector
- The new Nintendo 3DS (review coming soon)
- The Know Roaming App
