It is amazing how many unnecessary and redundant files accumulate on your hard drive over time. Things like : Temporary files from Windows and applications, internet files from your Web browser, and bits and pieces from your applications.
These are supposed to be deleted, but often they’re not and are just left on your hard drive. We normally don’t worry about these as these days hard drives are massive so we just keep piling up the files
The catch is that these files simply clog up your hard drive and make it more difficult for the system to operate smoothly.
Enter the Disk Cleanup utility. This app scans through the hard drive and makes a list of the all the files that can safely be removed from your computer!
To run this utility:
Click on Start, type Disk Cleanup, select it from the programs, select the Hard Drive you wish to scan and let it do its thing. When the list comes up with what can be removed, place a tick next to all the files you want to remove and click on OK !
Simple and to the point !
