No more VPN and Proxies to watch Netflix

South Africa got in just in time!

For years techies have known how to stream Netflix in countries where Netflix was not available. This was done using Proxies and VPN systems that masked the location of the user which made Netflix thing the user was indeed in the US.

This bypassing methodologies are against Netflix’s terms and conditions but was largely left unchecked.

But no more.

Netflix announces that  they are cracking down on subscribers who use these Proxies and VPN system to stream Netflix in countries where the service is not available. David Fullagar, Vice President of Content Delivery Architecture at Netflix wrote in a post  on the company’s Blog, , that:

Some members use proxies or “unblockers” to access titles available outside their territory. To address this, we employ the same or similar measures other firms do. This technology continues to evolve and we are evolving with it. That means in coming weeks, those using proxies and unblockers will only be able to access the service in the country where they currently are.

David Fullager does assure users that this new technology will not affect legitimate users where Netflix is legitimately available.
