What to expect at Google I/O 2019

What to expect at Google I/O 2019

Google’s I/O 2019 developer conference is about to happen in about a day or so and I for one, am really excited for Google’s new hardware as well as software updates and releases.

While a lot of rumors and chatter have been happening online, here are some of the few items I am excited about and hope they happen.

What to expect at Google I/O 2019

Android Q

The new Android version is something the whole world anticipates; we kinda hope we know what we’re going to get but until we see it…

Some of the new features I am excited to see if the new navigation gestures as well as chat bubbles so you can keep texting over other apps. Upgrades to face detection and support for foldable phones are also in the mix.

We don’t expect Google to reveal everything about Android Q, but I’m hoping we get to experiment with a beta version of the software like we did last year with Android P.

New Pixels

Google has been rumored to be producing new Pixel phones for a while now, and we’re talking about mid-sized phones here not their flagship Pixels. The Pixel 3a and 3a XL are the rumored two additions. Both phones are expected to have 12MP cameras and similar designs to high-end Pixel phones.

As for screen sizes, the rumors are 3a should be about 5.6 inches while the 3a XL is expected to be about 6 inches. The compromise occurs at the level of the processor as they’ll most likely use Snapdragon 670 and 710, respectively. They’ll likely cost less than $800.

As you can tell, I am excited as I LOVE the Pixel range.

Nest Hub Max

The Nest Hub Max is expected to be Google’s 2nd smart display to be released after the Home Hub. The Home Hub has a 7 inch screen and is mainly a Google Assistant device, but I have greater expectations for the Nest Hub Max.

It’s rumored to have a 10 inch display and come with a camera plus alerts. These should be useful in adding some functionality as a security monitor or perhaps for video calls?

The stereo speakers in the Nest Hub Max should also make it a little like a tablet in terms of playing music and streaming videos so big potential here.

Android TV and Chrome?

Some rumors are circulating that Google is planning an update for Android TV, but so far we really don’t know.

Google is likely to introduce something in the world of Artificial Intelligence in this year’s I/O. Even if it’s not something that’s clearly stated, they keep introducing AI into their software and products.

Chrome has been on the down-low so perhaps some announcements around Chrome would be coming too?

So in summary

Google’s I/O developer conference is exciting and should contain lots of news and updates regarding Android Q and Pixels 3a and 3a XL to name a few. Perhaps some surprises await us?

Will keep watching and updating!
